What is HypeDrop?
This is a platform that offers customers a chance to purchase mystery boxes, which may include physical and/or digital goods. You can select a category and a specific type of box within that category. You’ll be shown the list of prizes within each box, along with your chance of winning each of the individual prizes. You can even do a “Free Try” (or multiple free tries) to see how it works without committing any of your own funds.
There are 80-120 boxes on the site at any given time, and categories cover a broad range, including pet items, tech, sporting goods, cosmetics, digital items, luxury goods and more. You can purchase the lower-end HypeDrop mystery boxes starting at as little as 30 cents, mid-range boxes for hundreds to thousands of dollars, and premium boxes that go as high as mid six figures for luxury goods.
You can also battle other users, where you open the same box simultaneously, with the person who gets the highest-value prize taking the other user’s prize too. There are twists on these battles, such as the version where the person who opened the lowest-value box gets to take the other prizes!
An example of how HypeDrop mystery boxes works
I selected a pet-themed box with a price of $8.64 to open it. There were over 45 items in the box with values ranging from $0.80 to $5650. Each product shows your chance of winning it. My chances of winning various prizes ranged from 0.01% for the top prize, up to 22% for the least-expensive prizes. The first box I opened was worth $27.74, while the second one was worth $1.39. This is a fairly common result for
Mystery Box sites, as you never know what you’re going to get.
You can then decide if you want to receive the prize, exchange it for crypto or site credits, or you can even attempt to upgrade it. If you’ve read the Jemlit review, then you know these sites operate in a largely similar way.
The upgrade system is chance-based, as you can purchase a chance to upgrade, and as always your probability of receiving that upgrade will be shown. Alternatively, you can get a chance to upgrade by purchasing multipliers, which also gives you a random chance to win. For example, purchasing a 2x multiplier gives you a 50/50 chance of getting the upgrade, while purchasing a 10x multiplier gives you a roughly 10% chance of securing the upgrade.

While I always appreciate any bonus, I will note that this is smaller than what some other brands offer. Review of the HypeDrop loyalty program
HypeDrop runs a multi-level loyalty program that’s based on how many experience points (XP) you collect, which helps you climb through the 100 levels of the rewards program. As you climb the levels, you’ll get bigger and better rewards, such as opening free mystery boxes with higher values. You’ll collect experience points in the following ways:
- Opening HypeDrop mystery boxes.
- Participate in battles.
- Using the upgrade system.
- Purchasing XP.
It’s not clear how much XP you’ll collect for these activities, with the exception that we know you can purchase 400 XP for $1. You’ll need to collect 8300 XP to get to Level 2 – which would be $20.75 if you outright purchased all points – but once that happens you’ll have access to your first rewards. While it’s relatively easy to get to Level 2, the jumps from level to level after that get increasingly more difficult to obtain. The problem here is that the site isn’t particularly transparent about exactly how much XP you need to get to the various levels, only that it gets more difficult.
Since the exact specifics aren’t laid out, it’s hard to determine if it’s worth the time and effort to climb through these levels. My advice is to use your regular shopping style, which will likely move you through several tiers. If your natural mystery box purchases get you even higher, that’s great – but don’t chase levels outside of your normal activities.
What do users get as they climb the levels?
The rewards jump in value as you climb through the levels, but you’ll generally see noticeably better rewards about every 10 levels. Just navigate to the “Free Drop” tab on the site, where you’ll get to open a free mystery box based on your level.
At Level 10 and lower, you’ll get to open boxes with low-value rewards such as stickers, vouchers and other items that are worth as little as $0.01 to a few dollars. At the mid-tiers you can have a small chance of winning higher-value rewards such as name-brand athletic shoes and jackets. At the highest tiers you’ll have a chance to potentially win luxury goods such as watches. Take note that you can see for yourself what sort of prizes are available at every level by navigating to the “Free Drop” page, and then clicking on the level and using the “Free Try” button.
What are reward titles?
Users who are consistently engaged on the site so that they’re collecting XP will get reward tiles. The daily reward tile serves as a daily login bonus. Users in the upper reward levels can get access to instant, weekly, and monthly reward tiles as well.
What’s the scoop on races?
Note that active users who are opening a lot of boxes will get a chance to race up the daily and weekly Leaderboards for a chance to win a share of a $4000 (Daily) or $15,000 (Weekly) prize pool. I find this to be a worthwhile endeavor, as you can check the leaderboards at any time to see if it’s worth racing. Plus here you’re going head-to-head with other users, rather than simply collecting XP to get to the next level. I suspect there are certain times of the year, such as major holidays, where fewer people might be on the site. If so, that gives you a better chance to win a daily race.

What’s HypeDrop’s vibe and overall usability?
This platform has what I would call a cutting-edge combination of an ecommerce and a lootbox site. The way the categories and boxes are laid out makes you feel like you’re shopping, while the animations and overall vibe helps the mystery boxes pop. By default it has a light and bright feel to it that I liked, especially as compared to other brands that have dark backgrounds. But take note, users can choose whether to have a light or dark theme, which is nice to have that flexibility.
When you first land on the site, it can feel a touch overwhelming, as it seems like there is so much going on. However, within a couple minutes you’ll acclimate, and soon you’ll discover that everything is well-designed and easy to find. From the homepage you can reach your account, top off your balance, browse categories, search for specific types of boxes, check your XP balance, claim your daily free box, contact support, and more. I found it very easy to search for different types of boxes to find the ones that suited my preferences, especially when using the search filters (e.g., low to high price).
Can you open HypeDrop mystery boxes on a mobile app?
No, this platform does not have a native Android or iPhone app, but its mobile-first technology creates a good experience even without one. However, you can install the PWA (progressive web app) on your device’s homescreen if you choose, which is a highly optimized version. I had a good experience with fast-loading pages and smooth animations on both my laptop and Android device, even without the PWA.
Android users who want to install the progressive web app should start by opening the Chrome browser on their device, and then tapping the HypeDrop banner on this page. You can then tap the three dots in the upper right side of your screen and select “Install App” or “Add to Homescreen.”

Note that PayPal wasn’t presented as an option to me, even though it’s listed on the bottom of the website, so I suspect payment options vary depending on where you live.
When it comes time to get your prizes, physical prizes may take up to a week to process, and then shipping times vary depending on where you live, but they can stretch from about a week to a month. Digital items process faster, in just 30 minutes to up to 24 hours, and then you’ll receive the item immediately after processing is complete.
Review of HypeDrop’s customer service
This platform provides help documentation on the site that is mainly in the form of FAQs. These FAQs will answer many of the basic questions you may have, but it takes some searching. To find answers a little easier, you can click on the “Live Support” option, which gives you the opportunity to talk to the AI agent first, which I found helpful for simple questions.
When I needed human help, the AI agent connected me to the support staff right away, without me having to jump through a bunch of hoops. I only waited about three or four minutes, and then received a helpful and prompt response. Take note that the vibe is very relaxed and familiar, as the human support staff called me “buddy” and posted GIFs. That may not mesh with everyone’s vibe, but it was a good fit for the overall site, and it didn’t detract from the helpful response I received.
All in all, it was a good experience, and I was pleased with how quickly I received help.

Reviewing transparency and fairness to check if HypeDrop is legit
This platform has been in operation since 2018, and it is run by a company called Plutonomy Limited that operates out of Belize City, Belize. This is a legit and transparent company with no concerning issues surrounding it. Note that mystery box sites don’t need to be licensed. However, HypeDrop is fully compliant with the law, such as by following strict KYC protocols to combat money laundering and other criminal activity.
The big legitimacy flex that this platform offers is that it’s audited by a reputable third-party company called iTechLabs, which has repeatedly shown that the HypeDrop mystery boxes are fair and random. Of course you can prove this for yourself by going to your account and clicking on the “Fairness” tab, where you’ll be able to choose your own client seed under the “provably fair” system. Similar brands offer this same sort of fairness verification, as mentioned in the
PackDraw review.
Finally, the site provides security with a valid security certificate, with all data being encrypted to protect your information. The site also offers secure payment platforms as outlined previously.
Wrapping up the HypeDrop review
Overall, I enjoyed my time on this platform. I liked the light and bright feel to it, the free mystery boxes, and the battles where you get a chance to win other users’ prizes. I also appreciated the daily races, as when you’re particularly active on the site you can get a chance to win a share in a prize pool. Another standout feature for me was the fact that you could buy XP if you wanted to level-up quickly. On the downside, some of the prizes were only worth pennies, and shipping those items costs too much. Perhaps those scenarios are good times to shoot for an upgrade or to simply sell back the prizes for site credits.
