Is GOATbox legit and safe to use?

After thoroughly exploring the GOATbox website, everything seems to be in place, and I found no cause for concern. The website is encrypted, and secure sessions automatically kick into place when you make Credit purchases.

The platform provides a clear Privacy Policy and a detailed Terms of Service document. GOATbox makes it clear that you’ll need to be at least 18 years old to sign up (or the minimum age for the state where you live). GOATbox also confirms that anyone living outside of the US, or who is permanently resident in Montana, Nevada, and Washington, cannot join.

How payments work at GOATbox

I’ve already mentioned Credits a few times, so I felt it was worth explaining what they are, and how you can obtain them at this point in my GOATbox review.

Credits are the on-site virtual currency you’ll use to buy Boxes at GOATbox. You’ll buy Credits from the Shop, which you access using the ‘+’ sign on the top menu bar. Each Credit costs $1 to purchase e.g. a pack containing 15 Credits costs $14.99.

However, it’s important to note that once you have made a purchase, the Credit tokens themselves have no value. You can’t cash them in, or receive a refund, they can only be used to open more Boxes.

If you are happy with that, you can use Apple Pay, Google Pay, Visa, Mastercard, USD Coin (USDC), USDT (Tether), Bitcoin (BTC), Dash (DASH), or Solana (SOL) to make purchases, all of which are completed instantly.

Scrolling through the GOATbox homepage gave me an excellent idea of what’s on offer on the site. The top menu only contained information specific to my account, the rest of the page is dedicated to the brand’s numerous Boxes, and links to the T&Cs and Privacy Policy appear in the footer.

Incidentally, there are no downloadable apps available. Instead you can access the GOATbox site using almost any mobile device with a connection to the Internet. The brand clearly had mobile users in mind, and there are no noticeable differences between the mobile-optimized version and the main website.

What’s inside GOATbox Boxes?

As I mentioned briefly right at the start, there’s a wide variety of different types of goods inside the Boxes, which GOATbox divides into 15 different categories:

• Jewelry
• New Player Boxes
• Tech
• Fashion

You’ll see a selection of the Boxes available in each of those categories as you scroll down the page. Boxes can cost as little as 0.61 Credits for Starter packs, and go up to 300+ Credits at the upper end of the scale.

Most of the contents of each Box are physical items which have a value equal to or greater than the cost of the Box, but with a lower probability of pulling them.

Each Box also contains several GOATbox Vouchers in various colors, with values ranging from $0.02 to $0.99. There’s a higher probability of pulling a Voucher, but you can sell them back to GOATbox, and they’ll be added to your Credit balance.

What happens when you click on a Box?

Choose any Box and when you click on it you’ll see a grid of nine squares, with the Box image contained in the centre square. You can change your Box location by toggling the + signs, or click on as many of the nine squares as you want. Below that you’ll see the cost of your Box (or Boxes) displayed in Credits and these options:

• Demo - self explanatory
• Quick open - opens one box at a time
• Open all - opens all Boxes marked

Further down the page every item in the Box is shown, with the probability of pulling it. You can also click on the ‘i’ to see additional details for each product displayed.

Your post-pull options

When you click on ‘Open’ you’ll see an animated sequence, which looks a little like the reels of a slot machine. When the reels stop, your pull will be revealed instantly. You now have two choices:

• Sell the item back to GOATbox for 100% of its value
• ‘Claim’ the item and arrange to have it shipped to your home address

For the first option, the relevant amount of Credits will be added to your balance right away. However, if you decide to Claim the item you pull, you’ll need to take the following steps:

1. Click on the ‘Bag’ icon on the top menu

2. Select ‘Full Collection’ from the options

3. Make sure the item you want to receive is ticked

4. Enter your full delivery address

GOATbox will let you know how many Credits the shipping will cost, and give you an estimated delivery date. Note that it can take up to 30 days for some items to arrive, although most are delivered more quickly.

Does GOATbox have a loyalty program?

Unfortunately, all I can say for now is not yet. Allow me to explain what I found to clarify. If you click on the burger menu next to the goat’s head image on the top menu bar, you’ll find ‘Rewards’ listed. This will take you to a page titled ‘Goat Rewards’.

The first image suggests you can “Earn XP rewards to level up and get free Boxes”. However, if you click ‘View’ you’ll only see available Boxes. Below that is the ‘Daily Streak’ but with no further information, other than you will need to purchase Credits to activate it.

The next image is titled ‘Loyalty Program’ which simply states “Coming soon” followed by a progress bar, then a heading stating “Daily Free Boxes (6)”. There are a few mentions of XP and rewards in the Terms and Conditions document, and my account showed I was a Level 1 ‘VortexTechie’ but that is all I know for now.

Customer support at GOATbox

As there is quite a lot of complexity attached to the way GOATbox works, I did feel that the brand’s current customer support options could be improved. That said, the brand is relatively new, and may provide better cover in the future.

You will find a fairly useful FAQs section at the bottom of the homepage, but it would be better if it was extended, and added to a separate Help Center. In terms of contacting the brand, the only way to do that at present is by sending an email, and it might take up to 24 hours to get a response.

As I’ve shown you, GOATbox already has quite a lot on offer considering that it’s a new site. There’s a huge range of different products in the brand’s Boxes, and the cost to open a Box seems fair. New GOATbox members receive 9 free Boxes, plus the option to purchase site Credits at a discounted cost, and there’s an easy way to sell unwanted pulls back to the brand.
