In case you were not aware, Heroic had been occupying the #1 spot as the best team in the world – at least according to HLTV.
Now, after their near-perfect title on Gamers8 2023, Vitality dethroned CadiaN and his teammates, but that’s not the only reason why they earned the #1 spot. So, in order to see their progress to the top, we’ll take a look at the recent performances from Vitality.
Vitality has been performing very well in recent tournaments,
The most recent win from Vitality was at Gamers8 2023, a tournament that got the attention of most CSGO fans out there due to the high-level status of the participants.
Due to this high level, Vitality’s path was nowhere near an easy one. They had to step over MIBR (2x0), Natus Vincere (2x0), G2 (2x1) just to get to the Grand Final – which was played against ENCE in a thrilling match that ended in a 2x1 series for Vitality. On top of the win, Zyw0o was chosen as the MVP on Gamers8 2023, making the win even more tasty for the French phenom.
Even though this was the title that brought Vitality to the top 1 position, two previous titles were also a huge part of it.
The first one worth mentioning was their title at IEM Rio 2023. This was quite an interesting campaign for Vitality since they started off with a loss against OG during the Opening Round. With that, they moved to the lower bracket where victories against MIBR, FaZe, and OG were enough to push them to the Playoffs.
Even more, due to their qualification through the lower bracket, Vitality had to beat BIG just to get to the Semi-Finals. From here, wins against Cloud9 and Heroic led to the title on Brazilian soil.
The second one – and one that’s hard to forget – was their Major Championship Title at BLAST.tv Paris Major. This was quite a significant win for the team, especially for apEX and Zyw0o, who played in front of their home crowd. Unlike in Rio, Vitality entered the Major with good momentum, which led them to a 3x0 Group Stage and a clean sweep during the Champions Stage – three 2x0s against Into the Breach, Apeks, and GamerLegion in the Grand Final.
Here’s what the ranking looks like as of the time of writing:
RANK | TEAM | ACHV | TOTAL POINTS | +/- |
---|---|---|---|---|
1. | Vitality | 500 | 957 | +1 |
2. | Heroic | 450 | 835 | -1 |
3. | ENCE | 354 | 744 | +1 |
4. | G2 | 409 | 733 | -1 |
5. | FaZe | 215 | 393 | - |
Looking at the rough time Vitality has had to get to the title at IEM Rio 2023 and their near-perfect performance to win the BLAST.tv Paris Major and Gamers8 2023, we can only say that this achievement is well deserved.
