After years of waiting, and widespread rumours of cancellation, we could finally see a release of Valorant mobile this summer. In the article below, you can find out everything we know so far -it’s time to get excited folks.
While we don’t have an exact Valorant mobile release date just yet, there are some extremely promising signs. The game is currently rolling out a beta test in China, with actual gameplay footage being leaked daily through Reddit, X(Twitter) and other platforms.
The big news right now is that a version of Valorant mobile is already available and playable. However, it is currently being rolled out exclusively in China as a beta test and isn’t accessible from anywhere in the world.
Though we can’t yet try out the gameplay, we do have a great idea of what it looks like. Plenty of still images and footage of actual Valorant mobile gameplay have been put out online on platforms such as X (Twitter), Reddit and YouTube.
One of the best places to find footage, leaks and frequent updates is on X (Twitter), where there is already an account dedicated solely to all things Valorant mobile. Follow the handle @ValorantMNews, and you will find regular posts containing real footage of the beta test version as well as updates as and when they are known and verified.
Despite the development being at this very advanced stage, we don’t yet have an official release date. However, solid suggestions for a 2024 release have been circulating, with the summer looking like the target.
This would be music to the ears of most of us, who have been waiting over three years since the idea of a mobile version was first brought about.
Those of you who have been wondering when does Valorant Mobile come out for some time now may remember that in summer 2023 there were strong claims that the project had been cancelled.
Prominent YouTubers such as @ThisisChrisGaming put out videos with headlines claiming that the project had been pulled. Fortunately, it turned out that such social media users were sensationalising a major development change in a bid to stir up controversy to get themselves more clicks and views.
Here’s what really happened…
In reality, Valorant Mobile was never cancelled, but the project did suffer a major setback.
In Summer 2023, Tencent (known for mobile games such as PUBG and Call of Duty Mobile) announced that it was stepping back from its role in developing Valorant Mobile.
Naturally, this led many people to jump to the conclusion that the project was cancelled. However, Riot Games, the original creator of Valorant, decided then to develop the mobile versions themselves.
That’s why we’re going to be seeing the game at least a year longer than most of us projected back in 2022.Â
The PC version of Valorant came out in 2020, in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It quickly became a popular game and currently has three top-tier leagues, making it one of the mainstays on most
esports betting sites.
If and when Valorant arrives on consoles, cross-platform gameplay is a very likely possibility. However, while we have no confirmation, we can confidently predict that PC and mobile Valorant players will not be able to play with and against each other.
As we explained above, the mobile version has effectively been developed as a separate game altogether. While the core of the game will largely be the same, several elements have been changed to adapt to small-screen gameplay.
As they are effectively two different games entirely, cross-platform gaming doesn’t look like a realistic possibility.Â
We may not have an exact Valorant Mobile release date just yet, but the end of this long waiting game is definitely in sight. For now, the game footage and still images from the Chinese bet tests are coming thick and fast, and you can keep abreast of everything here at Strafe.
