I had the VCT stream on yesterday, and out of nowhere, this weird little red icon showed up under the video. I clicked it, and suddenly I was picking who’d win the next round. Then first blood. Then total kills.
That’s Valorant’s Shotcall. Riot dropped it on August 5 as a Twitch extension for VCT Americas, and it basically turns matches into a mini prediction game while you watch. It’s only in beta for now, but it’s already making slow rounds more fun to sit through. Here’s what it does, how to try it, and what’s coming next.

Shotcall is Riot’s new Twitch add-on that shows up during official VCT Americas streams. You’ll see a little red crystal ball icon under the player. Click it, and you’ll start getting prediction prompts while the match plays out.
The questions are short and to the point:
You make your pick, watch the round, and if you’re right, you get points. Those points go toward a live leaderboard that updates as the match continues.
It only works on desktop Twitch for now, and you need to be watching one of the official VCT Americas channels. No mobile support yet, and no co-stream integration. But if you’re tuned in on a Friday, you’ll see it live. It’s still in beta, so it’s pretty barebones, but it already fits well. It doesn’t get in the way, and also doesn’t feel like a gimmick. It just adds a little tension between rounds without forcing you to open another tab.
Getting started is dead simple:
I jumped into the first Shotcall Friday on August 8, and it was dead simple. The little prompts just popped up under the stream during key moments. You’ve got maybe 10-ish seconds to lock in a pick. I guessed KRÜ would win their bonus round (wrong), then put points on a Cloud9 2K clutch (also wrong). Brutal predictions, but weirdly fun to be wrong.
What actually kept me locked in was the leaderboard updating in real time. Even if you whiff your picks, seeing your name move (or not) gives it that extra pull mid-match. It surprisingly doesn’t feel like a gimmick at all.

Valorant’s viewership is massive. But not everyone watching is glued to their monitor the whole time. Champions 2024 pulled 1.4 million peak viewers and ~50 million watch-hours, which shows the audience is there. But attention spans aren’t guaranteed.
Shotcall gives viewers something to do between rounds, especially when the casters are mid-tech-pause or the round’s tempo is slow. It also gives Riot new sponsor real estate, points, leaderboards, maybe future branded prizes.
Earlier this year, Riot tested a similar format with League of Legends’ Live Teamfight Analysis Fantasy. It gave players stat-based challenges during LCS broadcasts, and quickly caught on as a stream-layer for fantasy fans and on Valorant betting sites. Shotcall borrows from that DNA, but tweaks it for Valorant’s faster pacing and Twitch-native crowd.

Each correct prediction gets you points. The harder the pick, the more points it gives. Riot hasn’t posted a full point matrix yet, but during the beta, here’s what we saw:
| 💡 Prediction Type | 📶 Difficulty | ▶️ Points (Approx.) |
|---|---|---|
| Round Winner | Easy | 100–200 |
| First Blood | Moderate | 250–300 |
| Clutch (1v2+) | Hard | 400+ |
Your total score drops you onto a daily leaderboard, visible to all other extension users. So if you pop off on predictions, everyone knows.
So far, there’s just a single beta reward tied to all four August Shotcall Fridays. A placeholder, really, while Riot tests the waters. It’s not huge, but it does the job for now.
The real buzz is around what could come next once Shotcall exits beta. Riot’s already teased “a more exciting offering” down the line, and the community has definitely started throwing out ideas. Here’s what’s getting tossed around:
If they want Shotcall to stick, these kinds of cosmetics would go a long way. Doesn’t need to be massive, just enough to make the feature feel worth it.

The Shotcall beta is locked to four Fridays in August 2025. Only official VCT Americas Twitch streams are supported.
| 📆 Date | 💡 Twitch Channels Supported |
|---|---|
| Aug 8, 2025 | VCT Americas (EN, PT-BR, ES-LatAm) |
| Aug 15, 2025 | VCT Americas (EN, PT-BR, ES-LatAm) |
| Aug 22, 2025 | VCT Americas (EN, PT-BR, ES-LatAm) |
| Aug 29, 2025 | VCT Americas (EN, PT-BR, ES-LatAm) |
After that, Riot plans to expand Shotcall to other leagues and more languages, depending on feedback and extension stability. They’ve already started sharing surveys at the end of each stream, so feedback is clearly part of the roadmap.

Shotcall is one of Riot’s smartest low-effort adds in a while. It doesn’t change the matches, but it changes how you watch them. Especially for fans who aren’t sweating every stat.
It’s lightweight, fun, and actually makes you feel present in the match, not just passively watching. Next Friday, I’ll be back, trying to finally call one clutch right. Just don’t ask how many I’ve botched so far.
