The financial report leaked in November 2023 gave us the first (sort of) official confirmation that a third Subnautica game was on the way. In the report, a targeted launch date in the first half of 2025 was clearly stated.
However, a later Tweet suggested that we might get a glimpse of the game sooner than we first thought. Back in mid-December 2023, the official Subnautica Twitter account promised information about early access to the game sometime in 2024.

Will there be a Subnautica 3?
The one thing that we can tell you is that Subnautica 3 is confirmed 100%. There have been rumours spinning around news and esports betting since, as well as Reddit and Twitter (X) since 2019.
However, we then got a form of official confirmation in November 2023 through a somewhat unconventional source. A leaked financial report from the developer Unknown Worlds contained a single image with three bullet points and the title “The Next Subnautica”.
When is Subnautica 3 coming out?
While we can’t give you an exact Subnautica 3 release date yet, we have a couple of solid leads from two good sources. And the good news is that we might not be waiting quite as long as first thought.
The leaked financial report states that the launch is targeted for the first half of 2025, but we could be getting a look at the game even sooner. On Twitter, Subnautica confirmed that the third game in the series was on the way. They finished the Tweet by stating
“We’ll share more about our Early Access plans in 2024.”
Are we really going to get a taste of
Subnautica 3
in 2024?
Despite some promising signs, we cannot say for sure if we will actually see Early Access in 2024. After their initial Tweet, Subnatuca followed up with another that appeared to try and subdue fans’ excitement.
In the follow-up Tweet, Subnautic explained that they will be sharing their plans for Early Access in 2024. This seems to suggest that early access itself may not be available until 2025. However, we can still live in the hope of a late 2024 Early Access release.

For now, it’s sort of a waiting game, as we haven’t heard anything from any official Subnautica or Unknown World sources since December 2023. The next thing that we expect to hear is information about the Early Access plans.
