At the core of Rainbow 6 lies a complex ranking system that carries great importance to players. There’s a fair bit to know, but hopefully once you’ve seen Rainbow 6 ranks explained in simple terms, then you’ll understand why they are so relevant.
In 2023 Rainbow 6 ranking had a huge shake up when Ubisoft launched Ranked 2.0 to coincide with the release of Rainbow Six Siege. So there are now eight tiers in total and a feature which levels the playing field every season.
The seven basic Rainbow 6 ranks start at Copper and end with Diamond. Within each rank there are five milestones, meaning there are 35 separate stages between Copper V and Diamond I. At each stage you can collect various rewards such as charms and Alpha Packs.
Beyond Diamond I, there is one further rank to achieve, which is Champion. Here you’ll find only the elite, pro players who often feature in R6 esports events. So, if you want to hone your Rainbow Six betting strategy ready for the Six Invitational, then you might want to check out the Champion rank carefully to see who is trending…

Your Skill (MMR) rating determines your rank in R6, which varies depending on how well you perform in every matchup. When your Skill is at its lowest, it will be around 1100, the minimum level to play in Copper V games. A Skill level of 5000+ places you in the top tier of the Rainbow 6 ranks, marking you as a Champion.
Once the season is over, you will collect charms indicating your ranking for that season, after which, every player's ranking is reset to Copper V. The system was created to encourage players to prioritize teamwork in gaming over individual play. By collaborating with others, you will accumulate Skills quicker and, consequently, ascend the Rainbow Six rankings faster too.
The introduction of the Rainbow 6 Ranking system will definitely help you improve your competitiveness by pairing you with players at a similar level. Also, as you advance your gaming skills will be enhanced. While a player's Skill rating technically holds more weight than his rank (due to the seasonal reset), reaching ‘Champion’ is still a noteworthy accomplishment.
