Operation Solar brought a big change to how the Rainbow Six Siege ranks work at the tail end of 2023. Known as Ranked 2.0, this is a season-by-season system that has been designed to match R6 players of a similar skill level for games.
Below, we have explained exactly how the ranking system works and how it is calculated. Additionally, you can also find a step-by-step guide to help you check your own rank using a third-party tracker.
The R6 ranks system is used to determine your skill level as a player. Formerly, this was calculated based on your MMR, which has now been simplified and has simply been referred to as your “Skill”.
There are 35 ranks in total, that move up through seven different tiers. If you manage to pass through all seven tiers, there is an 8th elite tier, known as the “Champions”. This is the level reached by most professional esports players that you can back on Rainbow Six betting sites.
As explained above, there are eight tiers and 35 Siege ranks in total. The main thing to know is that the number of the ranks works in descending order - for example, you start at Copper V and work your way up to Copper I.
You can see all of the tiers and ranks in ascending order here:
Tier | Ranks |
---|---|
Copper | V, IV, III, II, I |
Bronze | V, IV, III, II, I |
Silver | V, IV, III, II, I |
Gold | V, IV, III, II, I |
Platinum | V, IV, III, II, I |
Emerald | V, IV, III, II, I |
Diamond | V, IV, III, II, I |
Champions | N/A |
To climb up the ranks in Siege, you need to increase your “Skill” level by playing games and performing well. The minimum Skill level that you need is 1,100, which earns you a Copper V rank. At the other end of the scale, you need 5,000 to enter the Champions rank.
Like most competitive games, R6 works by matching up players with similar Siege ranks. As a result, you will be playing against players with a similar skill level, barring some anomalies such as experienced players starting fresh.
This means that as a new player, you can win matches and increase your rank naturally as your skill level progresses. It also means that higher-ranking players can’t easily notch up points by using lower-ranked players as cannon fodder.
At the most basic level, you can see your ranking tier and level in the R6S game quite clearly. But if you wish to dig a bit deeper and see how you are faring on the world stage, you can do so through a third-party platform - Tracker.gg.
