It’s official: KRAFTON just pulled back the curtains on PUBG’s regional competitive refresh, going both for EMEA and the Americas Series. Top of the list is the low entry threshold: the tournaments are now open to anyone with a team.

A format refresh that lowers the entry threshold

After the success of the 2025 PUBG Players Tour, all eyes were fixed on the 2026 PUBG scene. The developer, KRAFTON, kept us waiting, but finally broke the best esports news ever: a new hybrid format that lets teams and players of all levels compete in regional tournaments.

Spread out over ten weeks, the PUBG EMEA Championship (PEC) and PUBG Americas Series (PAS) model is a refreshed, exciting way for teams to assert regional dominance while improving their chances of qualifying for PUBG global events this year. So, how is this new path-to-pro structure designed?

Stage 1: Scrims and Cups - open to anyone with a team

Herein, each week will feature three days of Scrims, namely, Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, in an elimination bracket format before qualifying for The Cup: a one-day Best of Five (BO5) event on Saturday.

To advance to the Cups (happening each Saturday throughout the five weeks), teams have to place at least eighth or above on matchday 1 and 2, and at least 16th or higher in the overall Scrims leaderboard by the end of matchday three each week.

The top 19 teams, the winners of Cups 4 and 5, and special-invite teams from the region advance to the Playoffs.

Stage 2: Playoffs - more cut-throat competition

With the Scrims and Cups stage cleared and winners identified, the best teams from that stage will be pitted against invited teams from the region for a chance to book a slot in the Finals. Playoffs will run for three days over a weekend (5 matches per day), with a real-time leaderboard determining which teams advance to the Finals.

To do so, teams need to place above the cut-off on any of the tournament days. What’s more, scores reset each day, presenting an opportunity while creating real jeopardy for teams. For the battle crews that place above the cut-off and qualify for the Finals, they will be replaced by those that placed below them in the Cups leaderboard earlier. Translation? The cutoff will be higher each day to make it even more challenging.

Herein, the stakes couldn’t be higher, as the team’s placement will determine their seeding. High Cup leaderboard positions will grant better seedings to start the Playoff journey. For example, a team that placed 2nd would start their Playoff journey on the first day and get two more chances to advance to the finals on days two and three. Conversely, a team that placed 19th would start on the third day and have to put in the performance of a lifetime with that one chance to advance.

Unlike Scrims & Cups, the Playoffs will have two separate brackets: Playoffs 1 and 2—featuring the same pool teams, including Cup qualifiers and invites. Herein, advancement to the financial will be in three match days as follows:

• Day 1: The top eight (8) teams advance to the finals, whereas the bottom 8 are relegated to Day 2—they get a second chance.
• Day 2: Top 5 teams make the cut to the finals, whereas the bottom 11 drop down to Day three.
• Day 3: Lastly, on Day 3, the top 3 teams advance to the finals.

Points accumulate in this first split of the 2026 competitive count towards an invitation to PGS in the second half of the year. The ultimate goal? Going from an unknown team to an elite one battling with the world’s very best.

In all, the regional competitive refresh goes beyond just overhauling the tournament structure. KRAFTON is also committing to supporting teams.
