September 14th is looking like a great day for gamers. Not only is long awaited Arkane game, Deathloop, releasing, but we are getting a bumper update for PUBG Mobile.
The update
This will be the 1.6 update for PUBG Mobile, and it promises to be a big one. Every major update to the mobile version of the massively popular Battle Royale game has brought with it significant changes to the game. We have seen new locations, new guns, new vehicles, and just plain old improvements to the gameplay.
So, what should we expect in the 1.6 update? Well, details are a little bit scarce at the moment, Tencent usually release their patch notes on the day of release for the update. However, they have teased some interesting titbits about what we might see tomorrow.
The tweet announcing the update made mention of an aerial game mode. This will be the first time in a while that we have seen the mode return to the game. In fact, the last time we saw a game mode similar to this was during the Ancient Secret event. We can expect to see helicopters, UAV drones, and plenty of new ways to defend and attack in the air. With all of the promised changes coming to the map, we are expecting some interesting gameplay will come out of this new mode.
The changes to the map
It seems like Tencent and PUBG Mobile are interested in modernising the look and feel of the game. The developers have already announced their plans for Project Future. This is their attempt to update areas of the map to look more futuristic. They have already begun this project back in the 1.5 update.
In that update they introduced DynaHex, a technology and energy company, that has plans to update Erangel and use it as a base for their experiments. They have already updated 6 locations on the map.
- Pochinki has become the Transit Center. They added an unmanned bus that players could use for moving cover in the area.
- Georgopol became the Port of Georgopol.
- The School turned into the Tech Center. They updated the location to add more variation to the gameplay in the area.
- The Military base is now the Security Center.
- Yasnaya Polyana has become the Logistics Agency.
- Mylta Power is the new Energy Center.
As for the gameplay, we can expect new and more varied locations that will change up tactics for these locations. They have also added lifts, automatic doors, and other moving platforms as well as map wide travel like HyperLines and Air Conveyors. These have all been added in the last couple of months and we expect to see even more interesting locomotion options appearing in this update.
As for the future, they have teased a dangerous meteorite that is heading to the map as well as an invasion from the Yarilo, a group of aliens. Keep your eyes on the game, big changes are coming soon.
