Overwatch Jetpack Cat Review 2026: Gimmick or Support?

Overwatch Season 1 began on February 10th, 2026. This release introduced Jetpack Cat. Since Overwatch’s rebrand, the game has focused much more on hero releases. This time around, we got five new heroes in total - including Jetpack Cat.

The arrival of Jetpack Cat, whose real name is Fika, has caused much debate within the community and among players. While many players are loving the cute new hero, others are calling for it to be banned altogether. So, what’s Jetpack Cat really like? Let’s learn more about her to uncover whether she’s a gimmick or solid support.

Who is Jetpack Cat?

Jetpack Cat is a female cat hero. She was found by Brigitte at Watchpoint: Gibraltar and has belonged to her ever since. Before meeting Brigitte, she didn’t have a name, so she got named Fika. Through this new companionship, Brigitte realized that Fika could be an ally. As such, Brigitte gets to work and creates Fika a jetpack - hence her name. This jetpack allows Fika to fly, shoot projectiles to either heal or wound, and carry her enemies or friends.

Jetpack Cat was ultimately designed to be a support for Brigitte. With players divided, let’s take a closer look at Fika’s abilities and weapons to determine whether she’s just a gimmick or a cute support:

Jetpack

Fika can travel in any direction that she faces, which makes it easy for her to move up, down, and side to side. While she’s flying, her jetpack allows her to carry her allies or enemies. It also allows her to shoot projectiles to heal her allies or wound her enemies. The pitfall of the jetpack is that she plummets to the ground when injured. On the other hand, when she falls, she can activate her elevators and jump pads.

Biotic Pawjectiles

The Biotics Pawjectiles are mid-range projectiles that can either heal or cause damage. Each shot contains 5 pellets, with 1 aiming below, and the other 4 aiming above, creating a paw shape. The lower pellet doesn’t deal any critical damage, but all shots will hit to the left and right if they are fired within close range. If all the paw pellets are headshots, then they can cause 40 damage to enemies. The Biotic Pawjectiles damage and healing per second is 107.52 while firing, or 85.91 with reload.

Frenetic Flight

Frenetic Flight accelerates Fika’s movement in any direction. If she is carrying another player, then fuel recovery is a bit slower than usual. It usually takes 4 seconds for her Frenetic Flight to recharge fully, and the movement speed buff is +240.4%. While using Frenetic Flight, Jetpack Cat can also activate Headbutt, which will cause 25-40 damage to enemies.

Lifeline

Jetpack Cat can switch into transport mode, which allows her to tow an ally. She can use the Lifeline to increase her movement speed while healing her ally. Allies can opt to be carried by Lifeline, unlike with Life Grip. For the ally who’s attached to the Lifeline, any movement abilities will instantly disconnect you from the tether. Jetpack Cat can end Lifeline by using her ultimate.

Where to bet on esports online

Purr

Purr allows Jetpack Cat to heal her allies. The pulses increase in frequency, starting once and slowly increasing to 10 pulses in total. Purr also comes with a knockback, which can be used once when enemies are within Purr’s range. This protects both Jetpack Cat and her ally while they are being healed.

Catnapper

The Catnapper allows Jetpack Cat to dive towards the ground, pinpointing a certain location, and knocking down any enemies. It will also tether the nearest enemy to you. This ability can only be used on flat ground or a slope. For example, if it’s used on a wall, then it will instantly switch to targeting the floor at the base of the wall.

Transport Shielding

While Jetpack Cat is transporting either an ally or an enemy, she can launch Transport Shielding. This will give her up to 75 shield health to offer projection while she is carrying someone.

Claws Out

Claws Out can wound enemies for 40 damage and slow them down for 1 second. It’s a Quick Melee that can be used every 6 seconds.

What are players saying about Jetpack Cat?

Since Overwatch Season 1 rolled out, we have had our ears close to the ground for the latest esports news. Jetpack Cat quickly went viral, with divided opinions on whether she’s a great support hero or just another gimmick that will fade away. While many Overwatch fans love her, it’s easy to see why other players hate going up against her. An experienced player who’s armed with Jetpack Cat can launch attacks on their enemies from up high, while simultaneously helping their allies. If you don’t look up when you are against her, you could be in real trouble.

Conclusion: Look up to find the newest Overwatch hero

While Jetpack Cat has caused a stir within the community, it’s clear to see why. Jetpack Cat is a strong hero, offering support to allies while dealing great damage to enemies. If you are not in the habit of looking up, then you simply will not see her coming, as she soars high in the sky. As Jetpack Cat has been bringing in a lot of attention, some players are seeing her as a cheap gimmick - but is that really what’s going on here?

Overall, Jetpack Cat is a fun hero that is certainly cutesy. But a cutesy gimmick? While she’s not a serious character and it’s all in the name of fun, she’s seriously strong. Some might think she’s the latest gimmick, but her damage and healing can’t be ignored. She offers excellent support, so we can see why players are already finding value in her.
