Ever wondered which hero can shut down that one dominant enemy in Overwatch? It all comes down to Overwatch Counters; those clutch picks that mess up your opponent’s flow and swing the match in your favor.
However, counter-picking isn’t all that simple, especially in Overwatch 2, where each hero comes with plenty of abilities you need to strategize against. In this guide, I’ll show you how to identify your opponents' playstyle, build an effective counter chart, and share tips to help you outsmart and dismantle their lineup. The rush is real; let’s get started.
Here's the pros and cons of learning the hero counters:
Counter-picking isn’t always easy. It's way trickier than finding reliable Overwatch betting sites. However, it’s definitely possible to assemble a team that can destroy your enemy’s lineup. This is where the counter chart comes in.
The Overwatch counter chart is a visual guide that shows which heroes are best suited to counter others. It’s a valuable tool for identifying the most effective picks to take down your opponents. Below is a counter chart for various Overwatch 2 heroes.
If you’re having a hard time dealing with D.Va, here are some heroes to consider picking and reasons they’re effective counters:
Pros agree that Zarya is a top counter to D.Va since she can protect herself and a teammate with her barriers, making them invulnerable even to D.Va’s Ultimate. Moreover, D.Va’s firepower only serves to charge up Zarya’s beam, which D.Va’s Defense Matrix can't block.
Roadhog is a must-have counter against D.Va. His hook can pull D.Va out of position, allowing him to burst her down much faster than she can take down Roadhog.
Junkrat is a strong pick for dealing with many tanks, and even D.Va can't deny his abilities. His grenade spam can overwhelm her, while his Steel Trap can stop D.Va in her tracks if she tries to dive into your backline.
Struggling to deal with Doomfist? These heroes can help you shut him down:
Pharah excels at staying out of Doomfist's reach while dealing massive damage from above. With her rocket launcher, she can pour destruction on Doomfist from a safe distance. Additionally, Pharah can use her flight to dodge his Ultimate and strike him off track with her Concussive Blast.
Reaper is the one when you need a tank killer, and Doomfist can't contest that. His self-healing ability allows him to sustain through Doomfist’s attacks, while his close-range damage output can melt through Doom's defenses with ease.
Like Pharah, Echo takes to the skies, keeping out of Doomfist's reach while dishing out severe damage. Her high DPS and versatile abilities can shred through Doom’s health quickly, making her a deadly threat from above.
How the heck do you take down Reinhardt? Here are some heroes that can handle him effectively:
Reinhardt struggles against Reaper, who can easily dodge his hammer swings and charge attacks. Reaper can teleport behind Reinhardt’s shield and burst him down from close range, and before Reinhardt can even land a hit, Reaper will have already taken a significant chunk out of his health.
Reinhardt may have his superpowers. However, they just don't cut it when it comes to Bastion. In Tank Mode, Bastion can easily shred through Reinhardt's barrier and then proceed to eliminate him with sustained fire.
Nothing prepares Reinhardt for Junkrat's Steel Trap and Concussion Mines, which can knock him out of position. Together, these abilities ensure that Reinhardt’s survival is highly unlikely.
When facing Winston, these heroes can help overpower him:
Winston may seem intimidating, but Reaper is more than a match for him. With his Hellfire Shotguns, Reaper can bring down Winston's barrier in just five shots, and with only three, Winston himself is out of the game. Plus, Reaper’s self-healing ability allows him to shrug off Winston’s damage, leaving the ape with no advantage.
Mei makes a good counter to Winston, able to freeze him in place and effectively neutralize his mobility. With her 50 HP advantage over Winston, Mei can survive his attacks and freeze him before he has a chance to react.
Before Winston even has a chance to drop his barrier, Ana can hit him with her Sleep Dart while he’s in mid-air, rendering him useless for a few seconds. Her sleep dart is also an excellent tool for her to escape Winston’s aggression.
Wrecking Ball can wreak havoc on a team with his unmatched mobility, but here’s how to counter him:
Sombra is a nightmare for Wrecking Ball. Her Translocator allows her to escape his aggressive dives, while her Hack destroys his abilities, leaving him vulnerable and cutting off his mobility.
As a tank-busting DPS, Bastion is a strong counter to Wrecking Ball. Whether close or at a distance, Bastion’s firepower can quickly shred through Wrecking Ball’s health.
With Pharah's aerial dominance, she can watch Wrecking Ball’s movements and drop rockets to chip away at his health. The best part is that Wrecking Ball has no effective counter against Pharah’s dominance.
Here's a table showing the counters for each hero:
🦸 Overwatch Hero | ▶️ Counters |
---|---|
D.Va | Zarya, Roadhog, and Junkrat |
Doomfist | Pharah, Reaper, and Echo |
Reinhardt | Reaper, Bastion, and Junkrat |
Winston | Reaper, Mei, and Ana |
Wrecking Ball | Sombra, Bastion, and Pharah |
Counter-picking the toughest heroes, such as D.Va, Doomfist, Reinhardt, Winston, and Wrecking Ball on the enemy team, might seem challenging. However, learning their counters, including Pharah, Reaper, Echo, Sombra, Bastion, and Ana, among others, will help you lead your team to victory against even the most formidable lineups.
