Overwatch 2 supports full crossplay across PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Switch.
A Battle.net account is required to link and play across platforms.
Competitive mode stays platform-specific, but casual modes are fully cross-platform.
Overwatch 2 crossplay lets us team up across PC, PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch without needing to switch sites. The game is free-to-play and supports full cross-platform play and progression using a single Battle.net account.
This guide covers how to set up Overwatch 2 crossplay, how to link console accounts, and what modes support mixed-platform squads. Weâll also explain which settings affect matchmaking, how aim assist changes in crossplay lobbies, and what to do if something isnât working. Getting started takes minutes, and playing together lasts much longer.
Crossplay just means you can play with friends on other platforms. In Overwatch 2, that includes players on PC, Xbox, PlayStation, and Nintendo Switch, all in the same match. As long as your accounts are linked through Battle.net, the game doesnât care what system youâre using. Youâll see the same friends list, progress, and unlocks, no matter where you log in.

Once youâve got your accounts ready, hereâs how to fully enable crossplay and get grouped up across platforms.
You can create an account through the Battle.net mobile app. The setup takes a few minutes, just your basic info, a secure password, and a region. We recommend turning on two-factor authentication while youâre in there. It helps protect your account, especially if youâre playing across multiple devices.
This part matters most for console players. Once youâre logged into Battle.net:
You can only link one account per platform. If you play on two different Xbox profiles or PSN accounts, only one can be linked at a time.
To play with someone on another system, youâll need to be Battle.net friends. Hereâs how:
Console players will see both their platform friends list and their Battle.net friends within the same menu.
Now youâre ready to play. Once your group includes players on different platforms, youâll need to stick to modes that allow crossplay. These include Quick Play, Arcade, custom games, and seasonal or experimental modes like Stadium.
Youâll notice that competitive matchmaking on Overwatch betting sites is locked when youâre in a mixed-platform group. Thatâs intentional, as ranked mode keeps PC and console pools separate for balance reasons. As long as youâre in a supported mode, everyone in your party can match together, regardless of which system theyâre on.

Things donât always run perfectly the first time, especially when linking accounts or grouping across platforms. Below are some of the most common crossplay issues, and what to do when they come up.
Start by checking that both players are signed into the correct Battle.net accounts. Youâll also want to make sure that the console accounts are properly linked in the Battle.net Connections page. If even one account is unlinked or linked to the wrong profile, friends wonât show up in-game.
This usually means the merge wasnât fully completed. Make sure youâve accepted the in-game merge prompt and also confirmed the process through your Battle.net settings on the web. Until both are done, the system will keep flagging the account as incomplete.
If youâre grouped with players on different platforms, Overwatch 2 disables competitive matchmaking by default. To unlock ranked play again, youâll need to switch to a single-platform party, either all console or all PC.
Double-check that crossplay is enabled both in Overwatchâs in-game settings and your consoleâs network permissions. On Xbox, for example, system-level cross-network settings can override the gameâs options. If crossplay is turned off in either spot, you wonât be placed in cross-platform lobbies.

Once your Battle.net account is linked, Overwatch 2 makes it super easy to team up across platforms. You can queue into Quick Play, run Arcade games, or create custom lobbies with your friends, even if theyâre on a different system entirely.
