NBA 2K seasons are definitely going to impact the casual player more so than the pro scene as is the nature of having to work through levels to unlock new rewards, but it could certainly cause some shifts in professional NBA 2K eSports as well.
One dramatic change for the scene is the introduction of the MyTeam Tournament. This knockout competition kicked off on February 20th and will roll through to the Grand Finals on March 6th. There’s a huge total of $250k riding on this: $200k to the winners and $50k for the runners-up.
Of course, the new player cards will have an impact on how teams perform in tournaments. On top of this, Season’s 5 league winners will be able to grab 97 rated Galaxy Opal Cedric Maxwell. That’s a card and a half.
