The 3 best heroes to counter X.Borg in Mobile Legends

Key Points
  • Esmeralda can directly drain X.Borg’s Firaga Armor, turning his biggest strength into her sustain advantage.
  • Chou can dodge X.Borg’s ult with Shunpo and use The Way of Dragon to kick him away from the fight.
  • Gloo sticks to X.Borg post-ult and prevents escapes, controlling fights once the Armor is gone.

Top X.Borg Counters in Mobile Legends: How to Break Firaga Armor in the Current Patch

When you’re stuck in lane without an X.Borg counter and he starts melting your wave, and still walks away with Firaga Armor intact, it’s a nightmare. You try to trade, and his ult explodes in your face and he walks off laughing.

If you’re tired of watching your health bar vanish to Fire Missiles and true-damage spins, this one’s for you. I’ve pulled together the three most reliable X.Borg counters in the current patch, all of which have the tools to strip his armor and punish his downtime when it’s gone.

Why you need dedicated X.Borg answers

X.Borg is a lane bully with staying power. His Firaga Armor acts like a second health bar, recharged with passive Firaga Supplies. Fire Missiles zones out squishier laners, and if you stick around too long, he’ll jump in with Last Insanity and blow you to bits.

What makes him tricky isn’t just his durability, it’s the fact that his core damage is true damage, which ignores your armor. So unless you have a way to delete his Armor early or punish his post-ult window, he just out-sustains you.

How we picked these X.Borg counters

To consistently counter X.Borg in ranked or scrims, you need:

  • A way to remove or ignore Firaga Armor. This can be via shield steal, %HP damage, or burst that forces him to blow supplies early.
  • A tool to punish his downtime after his ult ends. Whether it’s CC, displacement, or sticking to him when he’s vulnerable.

These three heroes fit both bills, and Mobile Legends betting sites think so too.

Esmeralda

X.Borg’s whole thing is about being tanky. Esmeralda’s whole thing is about stealing shields. You see where this is going.

Why she works

Esme’s passive lets her drain shields from anyone nearby, and X.Borg’s Firaga Armor counts. By constantly poking with Frostmoon Shield and Starmoon Casket, she not only sustains in lane but actively removes his safety net. If she plays it right, she can keep him from ever getting full Armor back.

Once you burn through his Armor bar, he either has to back off or blow his ult early. And Esmeralda can tank or dodge the explosion while still pressuring with mobility.

Esmeralda

Optimal build & emblem

Here’s Esmeralda’s best build:

💡 Item Path ➕ Notes
Enchanted Talisman Keeps mana up during poke wars
Dominance Ice Anti-regen helps against his passive + slows his attack speed
Oracle Optional if enemy has magic burst

Go for the Tank or Support emblem, depending on matchup, but Tenacity keeps her alive during post-ult chases.

Lane and team-fight game-plan

Pre-level 4, Esme can safely poke with first skill while maintaining distance. Keep absorbing shields and chunking him so he has to ult defensively. Once he’s Armorless, call for a gank or dive.

In team-fights, look to sponge his damage, drain his Armor, and stick to him even post-detonation. He has no real escape after that.

Chou

If you’ve ever seen a Chou do the three-hit combo and then dropkick you halfway across the map, you already know how annoying he can be. Now imagine doing that to a X.Borg right as he tries to ult.

Why he works

Chou’s Jeet Kune Do combo resets fast and helps peel Firaga Armor in seconds. His Shunpo gives a small dash and immunity, which is perfect for dodging Fire Missiles or Fire Stake. And Way of the Dragon? It’s basically a hard X.Borg counter to Last Insanity. Even if you kick him out mid-spin, the explosion will still trigger at his new location.

mlbb chou

Optimal build & emblem

Here’s Chou’s best build:

💡 Item Path ➕ Notes
Blade of the Heptaseas Early flat penetration = dead X.Borg
Blade of Despair Max burst after Armor break
Immortality (optional) If you’re teamfighting late

Emblem: Assassin tree with High & Dry. You'll be dueling in EXP lane anyway, so bonus damage helps.

Lane and team-fight game-plan

Use your three-hit poke early to force Armor breaks. Save Shunpo for his pull or ult dive. Once X.Borg is Armorless, full combo with ult and follow up with team pressure.

In 5v5s, you don’t even have to kill him. Just kick him out of your backline mid-ult. You’ve basically won the fight already.

Gloo

Gloo is relentless. You can’t shake him off, and for X.Borg, that’s a nightmare.

Why he works

Gloo’s Slam, Slam deals %HP damage and slows, which chunks Firaga Armor quickly. Once Split is up, he can attach mid-fight, dodge Last Insanity entirely, then reattach after the explosion while X.Borg is Armorless and helpless. Even better, he can re-engage without fear. X.Borg’s real threat is his ult, and once that’s burned, Gloo just keeps going.

gloo mlbb

Optimal build & emblem

Here’s Gloo’s best build:

💡Item Path ➕ Notes
Sunfire Cape Early waveclear + burn damage
Glowing Wand Extra burn if you’re ahead
Dominance Ice Slows + anti-regen = double win

Go with Tank emblem, and prioritise Concussive Blast for early trades.

Lane and team-fight game-plan

You can start trading early once you hit level 3. Force X.Borg to use Last Insanity before you even drop below half. In team-fights, use your untargetable form to sponge the ult and lock him out of follow-up fights. He can’t run, can’t peel, and without Armor, he’s a sitting duck.

Other pocket picks

Lunox

Her Chaos mode deals %HP magic, meaning she can burn Firaga Armor and HP together. Great pick if you’re mid and want to bully him in team-fights.

Lunox

Wanwan

High mobility lets her dance around his Fire Missiles, and her passive lets her burst him when Armor is down.

wanwan mlbb

Natalia

Hard to target with Fire Stake, and silence completely shuts him down if timed post-ult.

Natalia mlbb

Ashes to ashes, Borg to bust

Torch the torcher. Once Firaga Armor melts, so does X.Borg’s ego. He’s a menace in solo queue if left unchecked, but with the right tools, he’s more like a walking bomb that explodes too early and dies empty.

If you’re draining him with Esme, kicking him out of the fight with Chou, or just sticking to him like gum with Gloo, there’s always a way to punish greedy X.Borg players. Just keep your spacing, watch his Armor bar, and remember… he’s only scary until he isn’t.
