If you’re not aware of CS2, you’re surely avoiding the media surrounding the Counter-Strike scene as a whole. Going along the same lines as when CS 1.6 was swapped for CSGO, CS2 has been one of the main attractions of 2023.
While it’s not available in a definitive manner, Valve released a Beta Test for a handful of players in order to gauge how the game feels. Along with the Beta, many updates have been released for the ones lucky enough to get a hold of the game. But what’s new for CS2 this time around?
If you follow CS2 on Twitter, you might have seen the post regarding this map swap. But before we talk about it, let’s give a brief rundown of what happened before.
Right as the Beta was released, Dust 2 was the only map available for Match Making – which was also the only unlocked game mode. After a few months of testing and tweaking, the classic map gave place to Mirage, one of the most popular maps in the game.
With that change, players were left wondering what map would be next, but no one could expect what was to come. Instead of one map, Valve decided to release two maps this time around – Nuke and Office. So, if you have access to CS2’s Beta Test, you can hop on right away to test them out.
Alongside the map swap, many updates and bug fixes have taken place. So, let’s take a look at some of the most impactful changes:
This update brought the casual game mode to the field, a mode that many players love since they can enjoy the game with a bit less pressure. This should be an interesting test for the sub-tick servers since the number of players per server will be much higher.
You might have come across a few clips showing bugs in the game, and one of the most prevalent ones depicts spray pattern problems. According to the update’s description, this problem should now be fixed – at least for the most part.
With the changes stated above, came many more. They include changes to the game’s sound, movement, sub-tick adjustments, animation, and MISC.
