What the 12.03 patch means for your competitive LoL play
The 12.03 LoL patch notes have been released, and it means some significant fixes to LoL play. This patch has started exactly where 12.2 has left off and brings some impressive improvements to your LoL play.
The most significant change in the 12.03 LoL patch notes are the nerfs are some of the major characters added in season 12. Zeri is the most notable champion to take a hit in this patch, but there are several more who have taken a hit too. There’ve also been some characters that have been buffed, which some players will be delighted to know.
Patch update
Season 12 has been a difficult season to get a handle on, and you can’t deny there have been some growing pains in the process. However, with all these new characters, we feel 12.03 has patched up some major issues caused this season.
Nerfs and buffs
Zeri, Corki, Caitlyn, and Amumu have all taken a significant hit to their stats, being nerfed way down.
The specials, most notably Zeris Lightning Attack, have drastically increased in power due to their overpowering and unfair presence in the game. The only buffs that occurred were Lilia and Quinn, and these are minor upgrades.
Skins
A few new skins have hit the market in the 12.03 LoL patch notes, and they’re worth investing in with these crowd favorites. Some of the skins include Crystal Rose Akshan, Crystal Rose Janna and Withered Rose Elise.
These skins add a little more color and depth to this popular trio, as well as add some neat little abilities.
Ahri’s rework
Riot has stated they believe Ahri as a character has fallen under the radar and had boosted her presence within Season 12. Along with a complete gameplay overhaul, Ahri is also getting a visual update that looks eerily similar to a Nine-Tailed Fox.

As far as pro play goes, the 12.03 LoL patch notes have had a mixed reaction.
After the huge backlash of Chemtech Drake and the ‘broken’ nature of the dragon, the 12.03 LoL patch notes see Chemtech Drake completely removed from the game. The most controversial nerf by far among many streamers as Amumu. With a 55% win rate, he had become one of the more popularly used champions in LoL squads.
Streamer and T1 content creator Tyler1 called the change ‘unsurprising’, reminding audiences of the win rate and how the one-hit kill with Amumu was bound to be nerfed eventually. Quinn's buff was well received, with many pro gamers welcoming the move and adding Quinn's tendency to be underrated in LoL squads.
Zeri’s nerfing has met some mixed reaction, with the likes of Berserker often using Zeri and being critical of the nerfing of her Triforce build. However, some streamers are critical of Zeri and her role amongst Average players (Iron to gold).
With LCS 2022 Spring in full swing, we think these 12.03 LoL patch notes are going to have significant changes on the betting odds of many of the top LoL teams on the scoreboard. Cloud9, for example, is a very strong team that is a favorite to win the LCS 2022 Spring tournament this year.
However, Cloud9 has also been reliant on Amumu as one of their squad members, with player Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen always mentioning how Amumu was a great support player for Miss Fortune.
“Amumu makes her (Miss Fortune) much better, but she’s also really fine with either Leona, Rakan, or anything that has CC”.
Cloud9 already has a strong line-up, so losing Amumu will be a blow but not a big one. We still believe the betting odds for Cloud9 might drop a little, and they might lose that edge they need to beat teams like 100 Thieves and Team Liquid.
Speaking of Team Liquid, they were a team that began to implement Zeri into their squad roster. This means they could take a blow to their betting odds, as Zeri was such an impact player before the 12.03 LoL patch notes.
It’s looking like 100 Thieves might edge the betting favorites, but we’ll have to wait and see how these teams adapt to the nerfs.
