Collect free Fortnite cosmetics without spending your real-world cash
Free items are available to unlock for every Epic-created mode
Instead of paying for cosmetics, you can get them for free by acquiring XP, winning quests and ranked modes, via cross-promotions, etc.

Fortnite has a variety of free skins, emotes, wraps, contrails, etc., more than many players are aware of. If you're feeling the sting of the V-Buck price increase, then you'll want to know about all the free Fortnite cosmetics available.
The number one way to unlock free cosmetics in Fortnite is through Battle Pass levels, but you can also collect free items by winning ranked play modes or taking advantage of crossover promotions. The reward pool extends both within and outside of the game, and we've provided the complete rundown of every free cosmetic you can grab currently.
Rather than spending to buy skins and other free cosmetics, you just have to play, gain XP, and progress through battle pass levels to unlock them. Most are minor cosmetics like emoticons, sprays, and banner icons, but there are several standout items as well:
The Chapter 7 Season 3 Battle Pass has 28 free items available to claim until August 20. They include:
There are 9 free items in the Laufey Music Pass, and they're available until July 15. You can get the following:
This pass runs through June 17 and includes 12 free cosmetics. Below are the main items to look out for:
The Soaring Skies Lego Pass includes 10 free items that can be used for building in Lego Fortnite Odyssey and Brick Life. Check out the complete item list:
Free cosmetics are also awarded for winning in ranked play or for completing quests. With Epic recently shutting down Rocket Racing and Ballistic, there are fewer items than there used to be, but there are still premium collectibles worth grinding for when you play Ranked Reload and Battle Royale, including Felinos Skin, Felinos' Fury weapon wrap, Felinos’ Claw pickaxe, and more.
By completing the Reload Map mystery quests, you'll also get the Elites Issue weapon wrap and Re-Loading emote. You can also expect free Umbrella gliders for your first win in Battle Royale, OG, and other game modes. Win three rounds of Blitz Royale, and you'll unlock Blitz' Brella.
A few free items can be acquired from outside the game as well. The Rocket League crossover runs various promotions, and several rewards can carry over to Fortnite, including Bitcrush rocket boost and Temple wheels. Bad Rad wheels, Cheesy wheels, and more. There are free items included in the Season 23 Rocket Pass and others you can get your hands on by winning challenges and tournaments.
Here are some other items you can claim from outside the game:
If you play Fortnite on mobile, you can unlock more exclusive free cosmetics, including the highly customizable Yeddy skin. Finally, the Jess skin is available to run at no cost after Save the World mode became free on April 16. You can acquire this skin in roughly 4.5 battle pass levels (350,000 XP).
Fortnite may have bumped up the cost of V-Bucks, but they've also provided lots of ways to get free cosmetics from the system. Most are tied to gameplay and performance, like the Battle Pass freebies and the ranked play rewards. But others are awarded for completing simple tasks outside of the game, such as signing up for third-party apps or participating in crossover promotions. Some of these free items have an expiry date, so start unlocking your own Fortnite free cosmetics right away. You can also head over to the leading Fortnite betting sites and discover not just the top Fortnite odds, but also what skins, gliders, and emotes the pros are favoring at the moment.
