Is Chun-Li Coming Back to Fortnite? Here’s What We Know in 2025

If you’ve been wondering if Chun Li is coming back to Fortnite, you’re not alone. I’ve had that alert pinned for two years now, and I’m constantly squinting at the screen hoping to see that purple Chun pose pop back up.

It’s been nearly 800 days since Chun-Li, Ryu, and the rest of the Street Fighter gang were in rotation. But with new leaks from the usual suspects, this might finally be the comeback window we’ve been waiting for. Here’s what we know, what’s still fuzzy, and how to be ready if (and when) the Fortnite Street Fighter skins drop again.

Every Fortnight Street Fighter skin so far

Fortnite’s Street Fighter collab is actually one of its longest-running. We’ve had three distinct waves:

1️⃣ Wave (Feb 2021)

Ryu & Chun-Li hit the shop on 21 February 2021, during Chapter 2 Season 5. Each had two styles, plus a loading screen and themed gear.

2️⃣ Wave (Aug 2021)

Guile & Cammy arrived alongside the “Cammy Cup” tournament. These dropped 7–8 August 2021 after being teased on 3 August.

3️⃣ Wave (Apr 2022)

Sakura & Blanka bundles dropped to celebrate Street Fighter’s 35th anniversary, along with their own cups and emotes.

That’s six fighters in total, each with reactive or alternate styles, plus a solid stack of back bling, pickaxes, and gliders.

👤 Skins 📆 First Release 👀 Last Seen ▶️ Days Vaulted (est.) 📝 Total Appearances
Chun-Li & Ryu 21 Feb 2021 27 Apr 2023 ~800 32
Cammy & Guile 7–8 Aug 2021 27 Apr 2023 ~800 24
Sakura & Blanka 28–29 Apr 2022 27 Apr 2023 ~800 Varies (approx. 12–15)

Why Chun-Li became a mythic skin

Chun-Li didn’t just vanish. She became one of the most-requested, most-vaulted skins in Fortnite history and on Fortnite betting sites.

Her last confirmed shop appearance was 27 April 2023. That’s almost 800 days out as of June 2025, which makes her the longest-absent Gaming Legends skin not currently blocked by legal/licensing issues. Chun-Li has rotated into the shop 32 times since her debut in 2021, more than Cammy or Guile, and still sits at #1 on FNBR’s Trending Reminder board.

So yes, she’s pretty rare.

Why vaulted skins return, and when they don’t

Fortnite’s collab skins, especially Gaming Legends, are tied to licensing agreements. These deals let Epic sell the skins temporarily, then shelf them until a refresh or re-negotiation happens.

There are three big signs a collab is coming back:

  1. Backend asset updates (e.g. textures, icons).
  2. Increased shop activity around similar IPs.
  3. Confirmed or rumored licensing renewals.

This is how Dune, Uncharted, and Tron came back after more than two years. But if a rights-holder declines a new deal (like Arcane’s Jinx), the skin stays vaulted.

What changed in Fortnite patch v35.20

Leakers like @ShiinaBR and @iFireMonkey previously noted minor backend changes to Street Fighter cosmetics during patch v34.40 in March 2025.

Those changes included updates to bundle metadata and icon references, though no full visual reworks or new content were found. These kinds of updates usually happen 2 to 30 days before the skins return. That’s exactly what happened with Dune and Uncharted, which returned less than two weeks after their last backend tweaks .

So while v35.20 didn’t directly change anything, the groundwork may already be in place. It’s not confirmation, but it’s the clearest sign we’ve had in two years.

When Chun-Li could realistically return

The smart money says Chapter 6 Season 3, which launched on 7 June 2025, was going to be the earliest realistic window. But that didn’t happen, so who knows really. There’s also a few key events that could boost the timing odds.

▶️ Evo 2025 (late July)

Capcom’s pushing new Street Fighter 6 content at Evo, so a Fortnite crossover would be a great way to piggyback on the hype.

▶️ Street Fighter 6 DLC drops (June–August)

Capcom loves a good promo moment. If a new fighter’s hitting SF6 soon, Epic could time the Chun-Li return to ride that wave.

▶️ Shop rotation patterns

Past reruns for collabs like Dune and Uncharted lasted 48–72 hours, but shop durations can vary. Keep an eye out and don’t assume you’ll have days to decide.

New skin prices could be coming

They may be coming. However, there’ve been no verified leaks of new Street Fighter skins like Ken or Akuma, but like I said, people have been speculating for months. If they do return, expect a slight bundle price bump. Other returning collabs (like Alien, Halo) saw their V-Buck prices adjusted for inflation. Usually by 200–400 V-Bucks. What’s also possible is a new gear-only pack or Street Fighter emote bundle that lets returning players grab extras without double-buying.

How to prep in case they drop

If you’re even thinking about grabbing Chun-Li or any of the Street Fighter crew, don’t rely on waiting until they’re back in the shop. Because when they do drop, it’ll be fast and probably unannounced. Here’s what I’ve been doing to stay ready.

🔔 Set a reminder on FNBR.co

It’s the most reliable alert tool I’ve found. You’ll get pinged the moment the bundle’s live.

➡️ Follow @ShiinaBR and @iFireMonkey

Both are trusted leakers and usually give you a heads-up before the Item Shop refresh even happens.

👍 Keep 2,000–2,500 V-Bucks handy

The Chun-Li + gear bundle has always hovered just under 2,200. Don’t get priced out the day it returns.

📫 Turn on shop notifications (especially on console)

If you're on Xbox, PlayStation, or Switch, make sure alerts are enabled so you don’t miss the drop window.

Closest we’ve been since 2023

You’ve never had better odds of Chun Li coming back to Fortnite than now.

Just don’t bank on it being permanent. Like all high-tier collabs, these skins are usually flash re-runs, not full-season stays. This could finally be the year Chun kicks her way back into the shop. So don’t miss it.
