The 10 rarest Fortnite pickaxes in July 2026

I love a good pickaxe in Fortnite, not least because they have been around since the very beginning. However, some haven’t been seen for a very long time, so I went hunting for the rarest pickaxes in Fortnite.

I’ve discovered the 10 pickaxes that are the hardest to find in July 2026 and will present them to you below. You can no longer get these in the Shop as a Battle Pass reward, so if you already own one of these, congratulations; I’m a little bit envious of you!

What is the rarest pickaxe in Fortnite?

As some of you will already have guessed, there is one pickaxe that has always been and will always be the rarest, so I’ve decided to give it a special mention now and leave it out of my top

10 list.

I am, of course, referring to the Axe of Champions, which is only given as a prize to winners of the Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS). As a result, only 14 players in the entire world own one of these as of July 2026.

The top 10 rarest pickaxes in Fortnite 2026

Leaving out the Holy Grail that is the Axe of Champions, here are the top 10 rarest pickaxes in Fortnite that I could find:

1. Dark Slicer

First and foremost, we have the Dark Slicer, which is the newest pickaxe on my list but also the rarest. It appeared for the first time in the shop on November 03, 2024, but seemed to disappear three days later and has only popped up a total of six times.

2. Diamond Jack

Next up, we have another one from the shop. Diamond Jack only appeared six times in the shop between April 22 - 27 2020 and hasn’t been seen since.

3. Crowbar

I’m going to kick it really old-school with this one from Chapter 1 way back in 2018. The only way to get it back then was by completing the High Stakes Challenges. You still occasionally see it around today, but rarely, and it will almost certainly never be available again.

4 . Frozen Axe

Here’s another one that all of you Fortnite OGs might remember; the Frozen Axe. This was available as a reward from the 14 Days of Fortnite Challenges in the lead-up to Christmas 2018. I have seen one source claiming that it appeared in the shop briefly once in 2018, but I’ve been unable to verify that.

5. Aquari-Axe

Sticking with the free pickaxe theme, I bring you the most unusual-looking rare pickaxe; the Aquari-Axe. This looks like a fish tank and sledgehammer all rolled into one and you could only get it back in the day by playing 50 games to gain 50 points.

6. Grrizzy Gooper

This rare pickaxe from the Growlin’ Grriz set was available back in Chapter 3, Season 4. The only way to get it was by spending seven Battle Stars on Page 4.

7. Rockbreaker 

In terms of early release date vs number of appearances, this might be the rarest shop pickaxe of all time. It was released in May 2019 and was last seen in July 2024, but has only appeared a total of five times in the intervening five years.

8. Dazzle Daggers

This is the first dual-wield pickaxe on my list and the reasons behind its rarity are a bit different. It was a free exclusive that you could get just by logging in and playing through Xbox Cloud Gaming, so it was really easy to obtain. However, Dazzle Daggers were only available for 10 days ( June 5 - 15, 2022) and their visibility has faded over time.

9. Lazer Axe

This pickaxe from the Icon Series first appeared in the shop during Season X in 2019 and has only made 13 appearances in total. It hasn’t been seen since June 13, 2021, so it’s highly unlikely that we will ever see this rare axe back in the shop again.

10. Symbiote Scythe

The rarity of this pickaxe is that it’s character-specific. It has only appeared 21 times in total and you can only purchase it in the shop for 2,000 V-Bucks with the Eddie Brock Marvel skin. It’s attached to his arm and is, in all honesty, cool AF.
