Eager to secure the spot at the BLAST Premier Fall Finals, Karrigan and his teammates brought spectacular synchrony to the server. With one more 2x0, Faze conquered the clean sweep – at least in the group phase. Here, we’ll try to see what made Faze so dominant in this series against Liquid, while also reviewing some stats about the maps played.

The Game

Map Picks

The picks for this series were Overpass (by Faze) and Ancient (by Liquid). As for the decider, Mirage was the unbanned map and would be the final stage if needed – which we know was not the case here. Now, let’s go over the two maps played to understand a bit of what went down.

Overpass

Right from the get-go, Faze took the lead in the first half and closed out their T-side with a comfortable 10x5. After switching sides, Liquid was not able to kickstart a comeback, letting Faze get to their 14th point before scoring their first round. After that, it was only a matter of time before the game was over.

One interesting stat that shows exactly how dominant Faze was is the Ratings. The best player from Liquid on Overpass was oSee, who got a rating of 0.78, so you can imagine what the other roster members got… On the other hand, Faze’s lowest rating went to Rain, who reached a 1.14 rating and a +5 K/D Difference.

As usual, we’ll give credit to the map's best performer. This time around, ropz took this title with a whopping 1.68 rating, 104.4 ADR, and a K/D Difference of +11.

Ancient

A bit shaken by the defeat, Liquid needed to secure a victory on their map of choice to take the series to a third map. Even though this was a much better map for Liquid, Faze harvested some momentum from Overpass and started with a 6x1 lead. Liquid sort of brought the game back after that, switching sides to a 9x6 – still in favor of Faze.

With that score, the Pistol round could get Liquid in a great spot. but they didn’t manage to hold Faze’s T-side as they expected, leading to the final scoreboard of 16x11 for Faze.

On this map, we must mention Twistzz – who had a 1.46 rating and a +10 – but we can’t forget about Rain and Karrigan, players who performed at a high level and that, together with Twistzz, were the three best players on the server.
