The ESL Pro League Season 18 is in full swing, and here’s a rundown of what went down in the first few rounds of the tournament. And of course, keep in mind that these results pertain only to Group A, as Groups B, C, and D are yet to play.
The Opening Round was pretty interesting as all the winners didn’t lose any maps to the losers. With that said, Vitality beat ORKS (2-0), Ninjas in Pyjamas secured the W against Astralis (2-0), Movistar Riders won against Furia (2-0), and GamerLegion stepped over Grayhound (2-0). This turn of events threw the losers to the Lower Bracket, and we’ll see shortly how that played out.
Still in the Upper Bracket, but now in the Upper Semi-Finals, Vitality was able to secure another clean win against Ninjas in Pyjamas (2-0). The other Upper Semi-Final was between Movistar Riders and GamerLegion, which also resulted in a 2-0 in favor of Movistar Riders.
The first two matches of the Lower Round 1 were already enough to push two teams to the Last Chance Stage – ORKS and Grayhound. Here, Astralis landed a 2-0 win over ORKS, while Furia did just the same with Grayhound.
Today (01/09) we’re set to see the two
Lower Semi-Finals. The first one will be between GamerLegion and Astralis at 2 p.m. (GMT), while the second one will be played by Ninjas in Pyjamas and Furia at 5:30 p.m. (GMT).
On Saturday (02/09), we’ll see the winners from each of today’s games playing against each other in the Lower Final stage. Of course, we can’t tell you the teams that will be playing as we can’t predict the future, but we know for a fact that the Bo3 series will go down at 2 p.m. (GMT).
Also on Saturday, Greyhound will face ORKS in the 8th Place Decider stage, and we should also see the 6th-7th Place Deciders – one match featuring the winner from ORKS and Grayhound and the Lower Final loser and the other between the two Lower Semi-Final losers.
Aside from those, we’ll have two more series this weekend. On Sunday (03/09), Vitality will face Movistar Riders in the Upper Final, a game that’s worth Group A’s 1st place – which will definitely be worth watching. The second match on Sunday will be the 4th Place Decider, a game that will be played between the winners from the 6th-7th Place Deciders winners.
