If you’re looking for some new Dota 2 heroes to back in 2026, then we’ve got you covered. From a total of 127 heroes, we’ve narrowed down our five favorites across multiple categories including carry heroes and midlane.
Our top five picks for 2026 include Phantom Assassin, Wraith King, Storm Spirit, Axe, and Jakiro. If you’d like to back any of these heroes, simply sign up to one of our recommended Dota 2 betting sites. You’ll even find that there are plenty of sign up offers to help you get started too. So, let’s dive in!
Dota 2 offers plenty of betting opportunities for esports fans, but with 127 heroes to choose from, deciding who to back can prove challenging. We thought we’d make it a little easier for you by putting together our top five picks. There are also different heroes to choose from depending on the role they play, so we’ve ensured a spread of these in our picks also.
It’s likely no surprise to anyone that Phantom Assassin has made it into our top five heroes list, given that she’s arguably the strongest hero that you can play. This carry hero has a unique ability called Coup de Grace that is very hard to counter, although some heroes can still manage it, but only with very specific weapons like whirling axes.
Wraith King is another carry hero that sits firmly within the s-tier (the highest tier) and always a good pick for beginners. He is an incredibly powerful hero with super high survivability, and we’d particularly recommend him as a pick for the late game which is when his power really ramps up. And if you manage to unlock Reincarnation, then everyone else had better watch out.
If you’re looking for a solid midlane hero, then Storm Spirit is a fantastic choice. He’s often a popular choice amongst esports bettors, because his mobility and versatility is truly unmatched by many other heroes. One thing to keep in mind is that Storm Spirit does require some skill to play well, so it’s worth considering the players as well as the heroes here.
Axe is a great offlane tier hero as he’s a huge red orc that is incredibly strong against melee carry heroes like Phantom Assassin and Wrath King…need we say anything else? Axe also has this really cool ability called Counter Herlix, where he basically pushes melee attacks back with spinning damage. We told you it was cool!
If you’re looking for a solid support hero, then you can’t go wrong with Jakiro. He’s a very strong laner, which makes life completely miserable for melee heroes, and he can deal plenty of magic damage. Jakiro also has some great special abilities like Liquid Fire and Dual Breath, with the former reducing the attack speed of other heroes and the latter dealing additional attack damage, while also slowing movement speed.
