Over the last week, the Dota 2 Stockholm Major has provided a ton of amazing games from the world’s top 14 teams (of course, excluding the Chinese region). It all culminates in the final this Sunday.
With the tournament coming to a close, fans will need to place their final bets to take full advantage of what will be the final Major before that all-important The International 11 tournament in autumn. Many teams will be looking to secure valuable DPC points to skip the qualifiers and head straight to TI.
The grand finals of this Major will be taking place on Sunday 22nd May between the winners of the upper bracket and lower bracket respectively. During the playoffs, teams that performed well in the group stage have been through the upper bracket, meaning they get 2 chances at a win before being eliminated from the tournament completely.
On Wednesday, Tundra faced off against Thunder Awaken and TSM defeated Gaming Gladiators to earn a place in the upper bracket final. This means that one of these teams is guaranteed a place in the Grand Finals.
Meanwhile, down in the lower bracket, OG have fought their way through with a very impressive performance against Galaxy Gamers winners BOOM Esports, thanks to an impressive Morphling pick from Yuragi. To compensate for the teams falling down through the upper bracket, the lowers will need to play more series and fight their way to the Grand Finals. The lower bracket final will take place on the morning of 22nd May, meaning the winners will need to keep their game faces on and head straight to the Grand Final.
As usual, it’s almost impossible to predict which team will take the overall win. After all, not one of the teams has gone undefeated for the entire tournament, even Tundra have dropped a game or two despite winning almost every series. However, those who love a bit of Dota 2 betting can still get involved.
It seems that the top eSports betting providers have got their eyes on Tundra at the moment. This European team had an unstoppable run in the group stage, finishing 5-1-0 (11-1) and the top of their group. The only game they dropped was against BetBoom, who have now been pushed into the lower bracket by Thunder Awaken.
Fans can never count OG out until they’re truly out. The two-time TI champions famously perform at their best when the stakes are highest and that is once again proving to be the case. This included a flawless run through the western Europe TI qualifiers last year that saw them return to defend the title. Although they began in the upper bracket, they were pushed down in the first round but appear to be making a comeback in round 2.
Of course, all of the teams playing in the Dota 2 Stockholm Major are among the best in the world, that’s how they qualified in the first place. And as we said, no team has had a flawless run (although Tundra have come very close!). Odds at Betrivers are constantly being updated to reflect the current standings and fans will surely want to get involved.
There are still 6 series to be played before the Grand Finals on Sunday so now is the perfect time to get involved in Dota 2 betting. The South American teams have been putting up a heck of a fight this tournament with Thunder Awaken (formerly Thunder Predator) and beastcoast still in the pool. Although it’s uncommon for teams from SA to make it this far, it seems that these squads are out to change that. Surely, all Dota 2 betting fans will be keeping their eyes on these two.
The most exciting part of the tournament is still to come after more than a week of build-up. With Dota 2 Major veterans such as Team Liquid and the current TI champions Team Spirit being eliminated already, the way is open for a new team to take the crown. However, Tundra and OG will surely be putting up a fight to take the winnings and, more importantly, the DPC points, for themselves.
