The release of Patch 7.40 in late December 2025 introduced hero Largo, the Bard Frog, to the Dota 2 community. But his win rate is nothing to write home about, since it’s below 48% across all skill brackets.
Since Largo is a new kid on the block, players are still trying to figure out what to do with him. The new hero is a frog with the ability to lick his enemies and teammates to provide buffs. But we feel like Largo’s abilities are mediocre, so we’ll share some tweaks Valve Corporation should consider making to fix Largo.
Also known as crowd control, a Disable is useful when you want to impede, inhibit, or prevent a Dota 2 hero from acting. While the Frogstomp turns him into a zoning tool, it only covers a small area. It would be nice if Valve could increase Frogstomp’s surface area, as this would allow players to peel off more enemies from key allies.
Although minstuns interrupt enemy spellcasting and give your teammates a tactical advantage during engagements, the effect is short-lived. Valve can fix this by bumping up the duration of ministuns.
Catchy Lick is a useful tool that can help you get through the laning phases, since it can disrupt enemies and save allies. The skill allows you to remove buffs, provide a self-sustaining mechanism via temporary regen, and interrupt channeled abilities. We like the amount of damage Catchy Licks can cause to the enemies and the temporary health regeneration. However, we can’t say the same about the utility and setup this skill provides. While we love the fact that you can pull in your teammates to save them and pull enemies out of position, Valve should consider reducing the period of wait time, allowing Largo to use this ability again much sooner.
With an intelligence gain of 2.4 and a 3.6 strength gain, Largo’s base statistics are up to scratch. The low agility gain of 1.3 is also great. Agility is one of the attributes that grants armor and attack speed to heroes in Dota 2. So, the low agility gain means Largo gets a low base armor. But it would be nice if Valve Corporation could bump up one of them. Since Largo is a melee hero who blends control, support, and other abilities, we think Valve should consider bumping up his movement speed. His spells need proper positioning, or else they won’t work well. The breakneck speed will also be useful in the laning phases, since it will allow Largo to trade more efficiently with enemy support.
Largo’s ultimate ability, Amphibian Rhapsody, is a complex key-pressing mini-rhythm game. While using the ultimate, Largo must hit the notes accurately and on time to perform a song that will boost the team. This is a herculean task, since any silence or stun will disable it. What’s more? The buffs it provides degenerate gradually.
Since Largo’s utility in teamfights takes a nose dive when Largo can’t hit the notes accurately and on time, Valve can fix this by giving Largo the ability to press a button and pause the music when disabled. Keeping the diminishing returns that result from missing a beat to a minimum will also help.
The talents of Largo, including Groovin’ armor aura, Catchy Lick charges, and Catchy Lick health regen, are centered around number ticking up to all of the hero’s spells. Valve should consider adding more utilities to Largo's abilities. For instance, increasing the Catchy Lick’s pull distance or range is a great idea. Having a talent tree that can scale properly with levels would be great, since it will always make Largo a noticeable threat in the game.
The massive patch 7.40 update introduced us to the 127th Dota 2 hero, Largo. But the quirky frog’s abilities are not that great, and the changes outlined above that Valve Corporation can make to fix him.
