Dallas Cowboys came from behind to beat the Philadelphia Eagles 40-34 in a thrilling game. It was just the second time that the Eagles had lost all season and it means that they missed the chance to claim the top spot in the NFC.
The Star of the game was the Cowboys quarterback, Dak Prescott, who was in fine form throwing 347 yards and completing three touchdown passes to cancel out the 10-point lead gained by Philadelphia.
The Eagles had had to make do without their first-choice quarterback, Jalen Hurts, who was missing as a result of injury. His replacement, Gardner Minshew, had a good game and threw two touchdowns and had a touchdown run. However, he would have been frustrated when he failed to land a winning 19-yard pass on fourth and 10 in the closing minutes of the game.
While the Eagles will have been disappointed with the result, the fact that they are on 13-2 means that most US gambling sites will still have Philadelphia as the favorites to win the NFC.
The Cowboys are still in with a small chance of catching up to the Eagles, but all it would take is an Eagles win or a Cowboys defeat for the NFC title to go to Philadelphia.
The Eagles’ next game is against New Orlean Saints on New Year’s Day and while the Saints will provide strong opposition, it’s Philadelphia’s for the taking. Philadelphia take on the New York Giants in the last game of the regular season on January 8.
Dallas are on 11-4 and face a tricky game against the Tennessee Titans on December 30, before wrapping up their regular season against Washington Commanders.
It might have been freezing cold across the US, but the gridiron action certainly turned up the temperature. Minnesota Vikings managed to create some unique NFL history when they claimed their 11th one-score win of the season. They narrowly beat the Giants 27-24 thanks to a game-winning kick from Greg Joseph and they will be among the Super Bowl contenders at most new US betting sites.
The San Francisco 49ers continued their terrific run of form with an eighth win in a row thanks to a 37-20 victory over Washington Commanders. It was another great night for rookie quarterback, Brock Purdy, who landed two touchdown passes to prove that he is anything but ‘Mr Irrelevant’.
There’s also a real battle for supremacy in the AFC between the Buffalo Bills and Kansas City Chiefs. The Bills claimed the AFC East title after a hard-fought 35-13 win over the Chicago Bears in freezing conditions. The Chiefs managed to dominate the Seattle Seahawks and get a 24-10 win that gives them a 12-3 record which is the same as the Bills.
Plus with Detroit losing at Carolina, the Saints beating the Browns and the Texans shocking the Titans, it was certainly a big week in sports betting news thanks to the NFL.
