Black Ops 7 tier list: Beta weapons breakdown

Publish Date: 24/10/2025
Fact checked by: Mike McKean
Key Points
  • The Dravec 45, M15 Mod 0, M8A1, and MXR-17 dominated early meta across all ranges.
  • Shotguns and snipers saw situational use, with the M10 Breacher and VS Recon leading their roles.
  • Pistols, launchers, and melee stayed niche or filler.

Full Black Ops 7 Beta Weapon Pool by Class

I’ve been in the beta since day one, and a few guns already feel way too good to ignore. This early Black Ops 7 tier list isn’t theorycrafting, it’s what’s been working across real matches and sweaty lobbies. Some guns just hit different.

Sixteen weapons made it into the test build, enough to give us a decent look at how launch week might shape up. I’m not pretending this is final, Treyarch will absolutely tweak things, but if you’re trying to figure out what to level first, this rundown gives you a good place to start.

Black Ops 7 tier list

What’s in the pool

Treyarch confirmed 16 multiplayer weapons in the Black Ops 7 beta on Call of Duty betting sites, spanning every major class:

💡 Weapon Class 🗡️ Weapons
Assault Rifles M15 Mod 0, MXR-17, Peacekeeper Mk1
SMGs Dravec 45, Ryden 45K, Razor 9mm
Shotguns M10 Breacher, Echo 12
LMG MK.78
Marksman Rifle M8A1
Snipers VS Recon, XR-3 Ion
Pistols Jäger 45, CODA 9
Launcher A.R.C. M1
Melee Flatline MK.II

How this Black Ops 7 tier list came together

  • Built from hands-on beta testing
  • Pulled from early tier lists, YouTube guides, and community discussions
  • Weapons with broad agreement and consistent performance landed higher
  • Guns that looked good on paper but lacked impact got nudged down

S-Tier

These are the guns that just work. No weird handling curves, no build-dependent gimmicks. If you’re trying to win games, start here.

Dravec 45 (SMG)

If you only run one gun during the beta, this is it. The Dravec handles like a dream. Low recoil, huge mag options, and it somehow beams beyond typical SMG range. Every loadout guide had this in S-tier for a reason. You don’t even need to build around it too much. Just slap on recoil control and a barrel extension and go.

Dravec 45

M15 Mod 0 (Assault Rifle)

The gold standard for new players and a comfort pick for anyone coming from past COD titles. Super clean recoil, solid range, and it doesn’t punish you for missing a few shots. You can play it slow with head glitches or run it into fights. It doesn’t care.

M15 Mod 0

M8A1 (Marksman Rifle)

Four-round burst with laser-tight grouping. When this gun lands, it absolutely deletes at mid and long ranges. It’s high risk if your aim’s shaky, but if you’re warmed up, it’s a delete button. Landing two bursts in a row is basically an instant win.

M8A1

MXR-17 (Assault Rifle)

This one’s a little more finesse. Lower rate of fire than the M15, but its accuracy is unreal. Once you get your build locked in, it feels like you’re operating a turret with surgical precision. Top-tier for lane control and long angles.

MXR-17

A-Tier

These weapons are strong and absolutely viable, but they lean more into specific roles or maps. If you play to their strengths, they’ll put in serious work.

Peacekeeper Mk1 (Assault Rifle)

Aggro AR players will love this one. Faster handling than the M15 but trickier to control. It rewards fast peeks and aggressive pushes, especially on small-to-mid maps. Once you’ve got burst timing down, it feels nasty.

Peacekeeper Mk1

VS Recon (Sniper)

The beta didn’t give snipers much to do on tighter maps, but the VS Recon stood out anyway. Bolt-action, quick chamber, and decent mobility make it feel responsive. Strong in any head-glitch fight or long lane.

VS Recon

M10 Breacher (Shotgun)

This thing is mean in the right spots. The “charge pump” mechanic takes a second to get used to, but once you do, you’re hitting one-shot kills more than you’d expect. Great for objective maps and corner holds.

M10 Breacher

Echo 12 (Shotgun)

Not quite as scary as the Breacher, but still solid. Two quick shots before a rechamber gives it a nice burst window, especially on flag or control maps where people clump.

Echo 12 test

MK.78 (LMG)

If you like to post up and deny lanes, this is your guy. Big mags and high damage output, but you’ll need to pre-aim or you’re toast. It’s a commitment pick.

MK.78

Ryden 45K (SMG)

Jack-of-all-trades SMG that feels good but doesn’t outshine the Dravec. Still totally viable, especially for players who want a slightly faster-handling feel.

Ryden 45K

Razor 9mm (SMG)

Crazy fast TTK in close quarters, but it falls off hard after a few meters. If you’re sliding into every gunfight, it’s fine. If you’re not, look elsewhere.

Razor 9mm

B-Tier

These guns aren’t bad, but they either need the right setup, a specific map, or just a bit too much effort to be consistent. If you’re on top of your game, you can make them work, but they won’t carry you the way S/A-tier stuff does.

XR-3 Ion (Sniper)

Cool idea, three-round burst sniper, but the pre-fire delay makes it clunky. You can dominate if you’ve got timing and positioning down, but it’s more effort than it’s worth for most players.

XR-3 Ion

CODA 9 (Pistol)

Full-auto pistol that absolutely fries up close… until it doesn’t. Recoil gets unruly, and range is nonexistent. Great sidearm to finish off a kill, but not something you lean on.

CODA 9

Jäger 45 (Pistol)

The better pistol if you’re into classic COD pacing. Semi-auto, fast draw, and solid finishing potential. But it’s not gonna win you gunfights against a good SMG.

Jäger 45

C & D-Tier

These aren’t here to win fights. They’re here for vibes, loadout gimmicks, or utility in the right circumstances. Use them if you’ve got a plan, or just want to mess around.

A.R.C. M1 (Launcher)

It’s a specialist tool. Solid against streaks or objectives, but you’re not bringing this to a raw gunfight. Save it for support builds or anti-vehicle lanes in bigger modes.

A.R.C. M1

Flatline MK.II (Melee)

Look, it’s fun for finishing moves or trolling, but unless you’re doing a meme sprint-build, there’s no reason to be running this in serious lobbies. Feels great when it works… which isn’t often.

Flatline MK.II

Guns, guts, and gut feelings

That’s the beta in a nutshell. I’ll say this, Treyarch’s pacing feels snappier than MW3, the TTK sits in a satisfying middle ground, and there’s actually some room for role identity in your weapon picks.

Day one, I’m sticking with the Dravec 45 and M8A1, those two just felt like extensions of my hand. But as patches drop and the full arsenal unlocks, expect this list to shift. For now, though, this is your solid launch pad.
