In 5v5 you need to have balanced roles to cater for a range of different situations. In 2v2, Champions with strong synergy need to be selected with the aim of getting quick kills.
5v5 gameplay has a strong focus on ward placement and pressure across three lanes. In 2v2 you really only need to control a single lane or nearby area.
As you already know 5v5 games are longer with a gradual build-up, where 2v2 matches end quickly with early kills and lane dominance.
Ultimately, it means that League 2v2 gameplay is faster-paced and way more action-packed than the original 5v5 version. While it sacrifices the strategic element of 5v5, it’s still great to play because it really puts your individual skill set on the line.

But, if you do enjoy watching the 5v5 major competitions, then you should have a look at some of the Overwatch betting sites because they often have live streaming for a range of esports competitions, which obviously includ LoL
