How to play three card poker: Step-by-step guide
To play a game of three card poker, you just need to follow these simple steps:
🎲 Place your Ante
Before you receive your cards, you need to place an Ante using your Gold Coins (GC) or Sweeps Coins (SC). Aside from deciding how many GC or SC you want to play, you also have the option of placing an additional ‘Pairs Plus’. This gives you a guaranteed reward if you are dealt a hand containing a pair or better.

After submitting your Ante, you and the dealer will each receive three cards. You can examine your cards, but you cannot see the dealer’s cards.
🤔 Play or Fold
After looking at your cards, you need to make a decision based on the quality of your hand. If you don’t think your hand will beat the dealer, you can simply lose your Ante amount by folding. Alternatively, you can choose to Play. This option requires you to play an additional amount of GC or SC equal to your Ante.
🛑 The dealer reveals their hand
After you have made your choice, it is time for the dealer to reveal their hand:
- If the dealer does not have anything better than ‘Jack high’, then you automatically receive your Play and Ante back, plus a prize equal to the amount of your Ante.
- If the dealer does have something better than ‘Jack high’, then all cards are revealed and compared. If your hand is better than the dealer’s, then congratulations, you will receive your GC or SC back, plus a prize equal to the amount of your Ante, Play and (if applicable) Pair Plus.
- If the dealer has the better hand, you lose your Ante amount, plus any other plays you have made.
- In the unlikely event of your hand being equal to the dealer's, your Ante, Play and (if applicable) Pair Plus will be returned to you.
